A differing stock from what the stateside J Press carries. These specimens are from at least 2 years ago, but still among my favored for day to day wear. The Japanese are often more daring in their interpretations of Americana, although these examples are actually similar to their American counterparts. Lucky for the Japanese they lack the cultural prejudices that color our view of the same items- so whereas to us a navy brass buttoned blazer is waspy, and is clouded in the stuffy air of a New England country club, to them it’s just another American costume piece to be interchanged with the cowboy hat. I envy that freedom.
I hope to get back to Tokyo soon and rifle the clearance racks for new friends. The Japanese market seems to have embraced retro American and English styles of late, which is great news, except that even the large size shirt sleeves and trouser legs are still too short for me.
